Hmmm plenty has already been written on this subject. We're trying to stay impartial - afterall we deal with both Donington and Silverstone - in both cases in an Official capapcity (i.e. we deal with them - and you pay us the same as going direct).
But... Silverstone has it's faults - mainly in the way it's run, but over the last few years the improvements have been tremendous. Whether it's access (the A43 from the M40 or M1) to improved parking to the future plans things have been getting better year on year.
Donington will tell you they're only 2 miles from the M1. Well there's £22m of your £100m budget gone Mr Gillet and Mr Lee (co-owners of Donington Park).
Oh and of course we can't have a repeat of the World Series by Renault fiasco in 2007 where people trying to get to East Midlands airport ended up dumping cars and walking to catch their flights... that was busy but still 15,000+ fewer people than at a Grand Prix - and how do you reconcile one of the busiest airports in the UK with the world's busiest heliport on race day.
Come on Bernie (Ecclestone) - please explain that either:
a) You and Max (Mosely, embattled president of the FIA) thought it wasn't July 4th but actually April 1st and that this was a very poor April Fool's Day joke, or
b) this was a way of bining the British Grand Prix for good when Donington doesn't come up with the goods - i.e. planing permission (not just for the work but to run the Grand Prix), the track extensions, something more than a 2 lane access - oh and of course somewhere to land your helicopter
